Developmental Screenings: How Do They Work?

Have you ever wondered about your child's development? As parents I think we all do, especially in the first 5 years of life when brain development is at its peak. Fortunately, there is an easy way to track your child's development! Here at SmartStart, we use standardized individual assessments to make sure that your child is meeting expectations for their age.

How does it work?

Since you know your child best, we work as a team to check your child's development. We schedule a meeting (in person or virtually) to verify important developmental indicators, interact with, and observe your child. During this meeting, we also review any questions or concerns you may have about development. We provide you with an individualized report and recommendations. It’s simple, quick (takes under an hour), and you can have peace of mind that your child’s development is on schedule.

DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENINGS ARE AVAILABLE FOR CHILDREN FROM 0 MONTHS TO 5 AND A HALF YEARS OF AGE.

THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF PEDIATRICS RECOMMENDS USING STANDARDIZED SCREENING INSTRUMENTS AT 9, 18, AND 30 MONTHS OF AGE, AND WHENEVER A CONCERN ARISES.

Brain development in the first 5 years creates the foundation for life-long thinking and learning. Let's work together to get your child off to a smart start!
